9, 32, and 38 for the handwriting asks?
Here it is!
Quarantine Asks: 19, 32, 46!
19. That book you were forced to read for class but actually ended up enjoying?
I’ve read a lot of books for classes that I ended up enjoying (due to the whole PhD in English thing), but the one that inspired my dissertation idea was Solar Storms by Linda Hogan. It’s a beautiful and compassionate story, and it really got me to think about the environmental toll of colonialism in a different way.
32. Rainbows, stars, or sunset colored clouds?
I love the warmth of a sunset. There are few things more beautiful imo
46. What’s the freezer food that you stock up on when you go to the grocery store?
I always pick up a handful of frozen Lean Cuisine or Evol type meals because I have a tendency to put off food until I’m starving and don’t feel like cooking (particularly when deadlines draw near). I also really like cauliflower tots!
I like getting ice cream sandwiches, too, but I can’t remember the last time I bought them.
Thanks!
21, 29, and 37 for the quarantine asks?
21. Have you ever been horseback riding?
Nope! The only time I had the opportunity to, I was eight or nine and was terrified of heights, or falling off the horse.
29. Who’s your go-to musical artist when you’re feeling upbeat?
There’s a metal band called A Sound of Thunder that’s been making me feel super badass when I listen to them. If you like metal or are metal-curious, check them out! My favorite song by them “Tomyris.”
37. Lakes, rivers, or oceans?
Rivers, definitely. There’s something beautiful about water that travels through countries, cities, and states. I find them so fascinating as settings in fiction and poetry, like in Langston Hughes’ “The Negro Speaks of Rivers,” or the Ohio in Toni Morrison’s Beloved, or the Mississippi in Huck Finn. They’re a big staple in Bangladeshi songs, too.
“My soul has grown deep like the rivers.“
Thanks!
1 and 9 for the soft asks?
Thanks!
What song makes you feel better?
“Rhythm of the Night” by DeBarge
Kinda random, but I’ve always liked 80’s pop for being fun. I have an affinity for a lot of 80’s music that’s about partying, despite the fact I have never lived in the 80’s and the fact my idea of “a night on the town” is going out to eat and then going shopping for books and stationery.
What calms you down?
Showers, alone time, coloring
1 and 12?
Thanks for asking!
What’s your love language?
Definitely words of affirmation. Give me that verbal validation!
Which do you notice first, a person’s eyes or their smile?
I think it varies person to person, but I feel like I’m drawn to people’s smiles and laughter when I talk to them.
13. Vday ask. 💜
If someone put you on the spot, would you be brave enough to ask out your crush right now?
@theotherkevinsmith is asleep right now, so I wouldn’t want to bother him, but he’d probably say yes when he woke up?
Thanks!
Blog Summary: Cats and fandom things and important things to remember
True!
It’s actually really funny that you mention cats. Something people don’t know about me online is that I’m really allergic to them, so I can only post about them :(
Stellar Firma and Wolf 359?
Stellar Firma: Do you like overarching plot lines, or one-shot episodes?
I generally prefer plot lines over a handful of episodes because I feel like you get to see how characters/relationships develop in a well-paced way. I think of it similar to seasons of a show or individual novels in a series.
Wolf 359: What’s more important, soundtrack or foley?
I generally think soundtracks are really good at setting the mood, but in terms of a thriller/horror podcast (think of S1 of Limetown), the foley for thinks like footsteps and knocking really ups the creepy.
Thank you!
