Ayyy, today’s @raveneesimo’s birthday! Thought I’d celebrate with some more of her storyboard Stevens! All of these are from the Frybo storyboard. Part 3 of ?

Storyboard (and/or promo art) Raven Stevens, part 2 of ?

Raven talked about her time working at MLP and there were a few things I found interesting

1) apparently Hasbro would not let the crew release storyboards, they were very strict

2) the crew was more or less upset about the Equestria Girl designs, they wanted the girls to be more diverse. human Twilight was originally supposed to be black but Hasbro (the ultimate evil) wasn’t very happy with this so to avoid the issue entirely they went with the rainbow color (and same model essentially)

3) in the wedding episodes Raven boarded the sequence in the crystal caverns + This Day Aria

4) (technically not FiM related but sorta) she did a voice role in Friendship is Witchcraft but is uncredited

5) Unlike EEnE and SU, where the boarders write the dialogue, for MLP the boarders got a super long audio track they would cut into pieces and board around (makes sense because Tara was recording her lines from Cali while everyone else was in the studio in Canada)

well I just started talking to her on the tumblr IM thing and we hit it off really well. I can’t exactly say what the impetus of our meeting was (other than it started with my usual nerding out of who was boarding Future Boy Zoltron [it looked like Raven’s art but something seemed a tiny bit off] when I saw the promo) but one thing led to another and we planned to meet up in Seattle and long story short it was fuuuun. We plan on meeting up again sometime, maybe when she’s in Seattle again :D

My sister (katiedid92) and I got to spend the day with the lovely and talented (and equally as introverted as myself) @raveneesimo and her friend Ben (who took the top photo of us) in Seattle today!

I can’t tell you much of what she told me, super confidential and stuff, buuuut I can tell you that the B in Lars’ report card is for either art or chemistry (because fire). And I’m sure this is a surprise to no one but there is no other interpretation, Mr. Smiley is gay! 

Edit 2024: this post is hella old, I'm not gonna change anything but I feel it is important to note that Raven is a trans man and goes by he/him now, thank you.
