Aquil looked up to Roàn, confused by the sudden question.
"What do you mean, my lord?"
The knight stayed silent for a moment. He tried to stay calm but there was only fear in his mind right now. A part of him wanted to drop the discussion here and just forgot what happened. But, the other part was tired of lying and stayed silent. Roàn took a deep breath.
"During the discussion with Lady Pnakettiren, you didn't look suprised. So, how did you know?"
Aquil took a while, trying to catch what the knight was talking. But when he understood, his expression changed. He turned his gaze away from Roàn for a moment.
"Well, I would love to tell you that I knew it from the beginning but..."
The squire put his hand on the back of his neck and rubbed it as an embarrassed smile came to his lips.
"The truth is when you were at Jäektrækunta, the High Priest invited me to Shamalhara. He told me about before asking me help to... destroy you."
Roàn sighed. He was sad but not suprised. Haras was manipulative, he knew that. It was only a matter of time before he tried to take revenge. The knight turned his eyes away from his friend.
"I'm sorry, my lord. I should have mentioned it earlier but with the recent events, I didn't find the time to talk about it."
A heavy silence fell between them. Roàn tried to keep a calm face but there was only fear in his mind. He was scared about what Aquil could think of him now. Maybe he was angry? Or disappointed? The knight didn't know and it was terrifying him. And the silence didn't help him.
"Now we mentioned it, I have something to tell you."
Roàn turned his attention back to Aquil. If he was still wearing an embarrassed , he looked in Roàn's eyes. There was no disappointment or anger. No, at this moment, Aquil was scared like a child who knew he will be scolded. He tried to smile and laughed nervously.
"Since my encounter with the High Priest, I'm... how to say... Banished from Shamalhara."
Roàn observed him, trying to find a clue about any lies or jokes.
"You're what?" He asked when he failed to find clues. "How could you been banished? What happened?"
"I kicked him... In the balls."
The knight stayed silent, completely shocked. Aquil looked up and continued, trying to explain himself.
"Well, I know I shouldn't because it was a sacred place and he is a servant of the Three. But... Fuck it ! He was saying bullshits like "your knight is a witch and will be our demise" or "We are the same, being manipulate by a woman who pretend to be a man." Well no. We're not the same. I'm more clever than this.... piece of shit... Yeah, sorry but I don't have other words for him. This kind of people, I just want to..."
Aquil began to swear in his native language as he was trying to strangle an invisible person. Roàn put his hand on his friend's shoulder, trying to calm him down.
"No !" He yelled as he chase Roàn's hand. "No, it's not ! I don't know how you can say that ! I don't know how you can deal with this kind of people. Because, I can and I won't."
Aquil's eyes were burning with a unusual determination. Because of his burst of anger, tears appeared, ready to fall. He faced Roàn and put his hands on the knight's shoulders. He looked before taking a deep breath to calm himself.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't yell to you. You're not responsible of this."
"It's fine" said Roàn with a soft voice.
The two stayed silent for a moment. Aquil bowed his head, looking to his feet. Roàn stayed still, looking to the sky with a little smile.
"I know I shouldn't say this because Haras will do all he can to make you pay but... Thank you."
Aquil looked up to the knight, suprised. Then, he smiled too before hugging him. Roàn almost jumped, not use to be hugged by tall people like Aquill, but hugged him back.
"I promise, my lo... No, Roàn. If this wicked priest say crap about you again, I will kick him so hard he will become a decoration of the Cathedral."
The knight smiled before laughing, quickly imited by Aquil.
