If anyone could spare a moment
So I’ve never done this before. But I am hoping to raise some money to pay off a debt that has recently come to me. So, short backstory for those who don’t know me much. About end of 2018 I was in a relationship that was getting pretty toxic. Well one day my ex just left. I don’t want to get into too many details. He met someone else, was unhappy. I was locked into a lease and until summer of 2019. I ended up having to live off credit cards, etc, was barely making it, and already had credit debt I was paying off that he helped make. And had to stop making my payments when I lost my job early spring of 2019. Then I couldn’t pay them when I got a new job because I had to take two months off of work for surgery so I had to save all my money so I had something to float on for two months.
Now flash forward to today, I have a prelegal document threatening to sue me if I don’t make a payment by 1/5/2020. I have done my research and spoke to a local lawyer and it is legit. I never got any other letter from them. It is possible they called but I get calls all the time about being approved for auto loans, etc and I ignore numbers I don’t recognize. Plus, this is my debt, it was my health credit card for emergencies. I have only been back to work since mid-December. I called these people and tried to explain everything. The bill is for 5,215.03 but I only need to pay 1,000. But I can’t pay it in full until after April. I fought for an hour back and forth to make them understand that I can’t even do a payment plan today because I don’t get paid until the 9th. I have like 40 bucks in my bank account.I am already at 40 hours for work and they won’t approve more. I can’t pick up a second job because I’m in school full-time. My boyfriend ended up coming in mid call and told them to fuck off and he at least paid the 50 down so now they can’t come after me.
However, now I have to make a monthly payment. On Christmas I found out that my boyfriends parents are paying for us to go to Florida April 20th to 27th for a family trip. Which is a dream because that means we can go into the Disney parks. We can’t afford to go any other way. The only reason it is possible is because we can hitch a ride home and don’t have to pay for food, or anything. My friend Kenya is wonderful and using two of her blackout days to get us in free, but the two other days we have to pay and for a one way flight/hotel for three days.
This was all possible if I scraped by my checks. That means I would have to save everything I can and I budgeted it exactly so I had two hundred left to survive off a month, which doesn’t include all my misc bills. So, all this was possible until they hit me with this notice. With this monthly payment, Disney won’t happen anymore. I don’t know if this is unreasonable to ask, but I am hoping to at least maybe raise enough to cover the minimums until after April when I can pay the rest off or raise something for my trip.
My boyfriend knows the plan to go, but not that I am trying to break my back to make this happen. I was in a relationship for two years who berated, verbally abused me and did nothing to support me. This man helped paid my bills when I couldn't, took care of me when I was out for surgery. Has supported my love of things when my ex made frun of me for it. He deserves the world and I can’t give him that, but I’d break my back to give him this chance to experience something magical. He deserves a break. He doesn’t deserve to miss out on opportunities and pay off debts my ex boyfriend helped cause. I also haven’t been anywhere since 2015 and desperately need this break and to get away.
