Hello everyone, thank you for taking a moment to read our story.
I am Hazem Shawish, and I am trying to save my family from this war.
We live in Gaza, where we face significant challenges due to the current situation.
My family consists of 11 members, including my mother, two daughters, four sons, and three children.
Hello everyone, I hope you take a minute to read our story.
I’m Ha… Hazem friend needs your support for Help my family survive an
In the shadow of conflict, our family has faced unimaginable hardships. The passing of my father, a victim to the cruel grasp of hunger and inadequate healthcare, left a void in our lives, underscoring the fragility of our existence here. My brother, Samer, battles bipolar disorder, a condition exacerbated by the ongoing war and the severe shortage of essential medications. Without access to the necessary treatment, his life is at risk, and we live in constant fear for his well-being amidst the chaos that surrounds us. These personal tragedies have deepened the urgency of our situation.
Every day is a struggle for survival, and each night is filled with prayers for a brighter tomorrow. We hold onto hope, believing that one day the clouds will dissipate, and we will find the peace we long for.
Our home, which was a sanctuary for us, was destroyed, forcing us to live in a state of uncertainty and fear. We have lost the laughter of our children.
Our entire neighborhood In Gaza Before and after
we had a supermarket that helped as to live and earn money, but it was bombed and we have nothing now, pic of our supermarket
We also face psychological challenges, as we have lost our father, and my brother Samer, who needs expensive medical treatment, is facing imminent danger. My mother, who has endured so much, fears losing another child. We are all suffering from malnutrition and contaminated water.
We dream of moving to Egypt to find safety, where our children can pursue their education.
We seek your support as individuals who understand the value of compassion and community.
Thank you for listening to our story, for your understanding, and for standing with us.

Emergency: Help my family survive and start a new life
my synagogue was set on fire last night during Shabbat at 3:00 AM in an arsonist attack.
no one was injured, which i am extremely grateful for. they have several security cameras, so there is a suspect in custody. the details and motivation haven't been shared, but it can be reasonably assumed to be a hate crime.
this was the first synagogue established in the state, the only one that's not hours away, and certainly the largest in the area. two Torah scrolls are destroyed beyond repair, 5 are damaged. the library where children have religious school and morning Shabbat service is held has been completely burnt down, much of that section of the building that's left is covered in soot and ash. the administrative offices were also lost.
our Tree of Life, which was for important life events like bar/bat/b'nei mitzvahs, was destroyed. i was just looking at it this past Tuesday while waiting for a meeting with my rabbi. it was dozens of bronze plaques in the shape of leaves with commemorations on them placed above a trunk. there is a photo of the wreckage that makes me cry every time i look at it.
we have a rescued scroll from Nazi-era Czechoslovakia (it is thankfully unharmed). we have a Holocaust memorial garden. we have names of dead loved ones displayed. memories in and on the walls. there are so many deeply meaningful and largely irreplaceable things here.
my rabbi was out of state for the last several days. i cannot imagine how he's feeling.
im fucking pissed at the police department. they said that they would patrol the grounds more often in light of the worldwide rise in antisemitism. I have not personally seen them once. they let the only area for our community to gather be set on fire.
i am exhausted. i am angry. i am thankful it is not any worse, because it easily could have been, but tonight i am grieving that little library full of vintage Jewish books.
EDIT: I have a reblog with the donation link for helping us rebuild in the comments, but here it is again just in case.
Gaza toddler Ayla still suffering from viral gastroenteritis💔
As a consequence of 1) harsh and cramped living conditions imposed by the occupation, 2) being unable to afford treating the virus in a timely manner, and 3) her already weakened immune system, Ayla has once again contracted the same virus she had previously suffered. Her immune system is still compromised due to malnutrition, so she needs antiviral, antipyretic, and immune support treatments and supplies, and nutrition therapy in order to completely treat the virus and prevent its return. She has a very high fever, is unable to eat, and is suffering from muscle pain. Her symptoms are very painful and her mother is desperate to get her the treatment she needs!

🚨 URGENT: SHE IS CRYING FROM HUNGER — NOT FROM CHILDHOOD 💔
"This is my daughter, Israa. She should be crying over a broken toy, not because I have to divide a single piece of bread to make it last another day. This is our reality on March 4th.
The Situation is Critical:
All crossings are closed. Markets are empty, and prices have tripled. Our 7 families are trapped in tents, fighting to survive a total blockade. Israa’s tears are the face of 13 children in our circle waking up to empty plates today.
How You Can Save Them Today:
Your support isn't just a donation—it is a literal lifeline for children fighting a silent battle for survival.
$5 (The Price of a Coffee): Buys a bag of bread to keep our children fed for two days.
"$50 (A Week of Essentials): Secures vital grains and clean water for one of our 7 families. In a world of skyrocketing prices, this is their only shield against hunger.
The Power of a Reblog: If you cannot donate, your share is our only visibility. On Tumblr, a reblog is the difference between a child being seen or being forgotten.
Tonight, a single piece of bread is the only boundary between a child’s cry and a child’s sleep. Please help us bridge that gap before the markets go completely dark."

If there's one piece of advice I'd give to folks in the US running Kickstarter campaigns, it's that if you're shipping rewards to Canada, please just send them via regular post if you possibly can. Outfits like UPS and DHL charge absurd fees to the recipient for every little thing when shipping from the US to Canada. I just got charged $40 CAD in "processing fees" to receive a package because DHL had to collect $4 CAD in sales tax.
