Is adult content allowed on Tumblr? Starting Dec 17, adult content will not allowed on Tumblr, regardless of how old you are. You can read more about what kinds of content are not allowed on Tumblr...

Here’s excerpts that I personally took note of for a TL;DR.

Starting Dec 17, adult content will not allowed on Tumblr.

Any content that show real-life human genitals or female-presenting nipples. Any content that depicts sex acts.

Written content is exempt. Tasteful nudity in the form of Art, Illustration, or Sculpture is exempt.

Anybody can flag your post as adult. While a post is flagged it will set to private- only you can view it. If your content is flagged as Adult a form must be filed to appeal.

If your blog(not post) was previously listed as explicit it will still not be available in search results. If you want the blog reverted from being explicit it will need to be appealed.

If you still want to use tumblr for at least your sfw and/or semi-risque artwork that doesn’t qualify as adult content under the new terms it might be easier just to make a new blog and have a nice fresh new start than deal with the appeal process and old posts.

If you were previously a well known adult content producer or have discourse for being politically incorrect it is more than likely others could abuse the flagging system to harass you. 

If you do face a lot of abuse in this manner debate whether the time required to file the form for each appeal is worth the time consumed. A way to get around filing lots of forms for appeals may be to have lots of content condensed in a single post.

I haven’t the slightest idea what the forms look like or how they work, but considering it is to be a post by post basis I think this is probably going to be the most efficient. But considering you might not be using this platform much anymore, having a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly post might better suit you now anyways.
