Update!

So life is uh great right now. In case my lack of fic updates hadn't already made that clear. I thought I'd give a little update on where everything is at regarding updates. I'm actively working on the next chapter of Nothing Personal aka bounty hunter Lily. My plan is to hopefully update sometime this weekend (if not before).

As for This Time Around it's a slow WIP. Given the complexities of my life right now this is a harder one to write (who knew it would be hard to write happy family fic when life is chaos). I don't have any idea when that will update at the moment. Chances are this one will be a surprise update at some point.

But I do see all your comments and I cherish them! I promise I will respond to them when I have the bandwidth to be able to do so ♥

Uh, I'm alive.

Recap: I left my old department near the end of August and started in a new one on the 21st. Same company, other end of the building. EVERYTHING WENT TO HELL. I started working insane hours after not having to do much work for basically a year.

Company screwed up my pay and I only got half a check for my first pay period. Then the time clock ate ALL OF MY PUNCHES and my supervisor had to edit eight of them, then I ended that pay period with 128hrs. Check was great but I had a bit of a breakdown and cried in front of a lot of my bosses (supervisors, department head, project manager, couple of VP's) because of the stress.

Now we're hitting our stride, finally, after a hard September. I worked Friday, I'm off until Thursday and GRATEFUL for getting P*ng**ns H*ckey back on Tuesday.

I miss the city so much and I need out of town for a few days.

Got very busy filing taxes and doing adult responsibilities.

Just wanted you all to know that I'm not abandoning Whatever It Takes.

Covid round four. Lost taste and smell last night/early this morning, still fighting sinus pressure pretty badly. Keyboard for my computer stopped working randomly and I'm quarantined until Sunday (tested positive Tuesday), going to have to door dash meals/supplies/groceries because my closest people are 30 minutes away, and I'm already going a little stir crazy.

From this morning. Stopped for gas, a stretch, and a cigarette. Three more hours!

I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M ACTUALLY GOING TO THE WINTER CLASSIC TOMORROW I’m FINE. I’m fine I can be totally normal about this! I took the bus from Kentucky to Chicago on 12.29, then flew to Boston on 12.30. My friend and I did the Winter Classic Fan Plaza on 12.31 and I 1) Got to touch the Stanley fucking CUP, 2) won an autographed Jeremy Swayman mini helmet, and 3) MET TRISTAN ‘how about that fucking save’ JARRY. I was so embarrassed after my autograph and picture because my friend needed me to take their picture but I was so focused on getting out of the way I spaced then said “SHIT I’m sorry!” and did what I needed to do. He was so polite and so smiley. I managed to only make a little bit of a fool of myself in front of him via the swear! Other than that I was normal! I was able to thank him for everything he does and I didn’t trip over my tongue!

If you were there and saw some dumbass in an Atlanta Thrashers Wildwing jersey, THAT WAS ME. I’ll be wearing my Big Jeff Carter jersey tomorrow, Penguins hockey socks, and VERY LIKELY my “i watch hockey for the plot” ballcap.

I hope for the sake of the Pens’ LB crew this is a good game (and that we win). So far Boston has been great. Everyone has been so nice, even though it’s obvious I’m a Pens fan (robopidge patch on my hat). Mostly gentle ribbing, which is appreciated more than the capacity to be downright mean some fans have (see also the fan that pulled up to the curb to boo me in my Pens jersey when I was in Columbus).

Hockey SHOULD be for everyone. It's hard sometimes, loving a sport that doesn't always love you. But it won't get better unless you try.

Dear Penguins: I’m sorry that I don’t really care about the outcome of this game - I’m too  busy being elated AT HOW FUCKING LUCKY I AM. I just got home from the Kraken Blue Jackets game in Columbus earlier this afternoon and my neighbor saw me on the patio and told me about my close call. HOLY FUCK.
