Brian Steinberg at Variety:
TV-news veteran Greta Van Susteren has joined Gray Television as a national political analyst who will provide news operations at the company’s TV stations with coverage of national and international political news.
“After more than 20 years on cable news platforms, I am thrilled to move to broadcast news and especially excited to join Gray Television’s journalists all across the country,” said Greta Van Susteren, in a statement. She is one of a handful of TV journalists who have worked for all three major U.S. cable-news operations, having logged significant time at both CNN and Fox News Channel as well as a brief stint in the early evenings at MSNBC.
Gray hires Van Susteren after it recently completed its acquisition of Raycom Media for $3.6 billion, a deal that puts the company in 91 TV markets with 150 affiliates of CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox.

New African American TV Network: Bounce TV
Has anybody else heard about this new TV network for African Americans named Bounce TV? Coming to a screen near you very soon, another African American network to compete with the BET's and TV One's of the world. It's interesting to see that Ambassador Andrew Young and Martin Luther King III are part of the founding group. Hopefully, this station will thrive. They seem to want to position themselves as more of a movie network from what I've read so far.
Personally, I'm still waiting for an African American network to launch that plays mainstream shows and movies but also isn't afraid to be a little more controversial. Have a talk show with a host like Alton Maddox. Have a history show with someone like Runoko Rashidi. Put T.D. Jakes on the network but also get some of these Imams of African American masjids on the show to. Those are the actions that would really get my attention and show me that a network isn't afraid to deliver content to African Americans in an Unbought and Unbossed fashion.
However I do recognize that it would probably have to be a "subscription" style network because I'm sure advertisers don't really want you to veer to far from the mainstream.
What do you all think?
