What are your thoughts on the connection between survival and score in shmups? Do you prefer both to be integrated (i.e. a lot of older shmups where scoring boils down to shoot things and collect items) or segregated (i.e. many CAVE games, where you can gain stupidly high bonuses but don't need to in order to finish the game)?
