Connie Britton's Rayna Jaymes Returns in "Nashville" Series Finale

When the series finale of "Nashville" aired on Thursday night (July 26), viewers were wondering if Connie Britton would return as her beloved character Rayna Jaymes. Well they got their answer when the former star of the show appeared in the final moments of the show. Connie starred in the show as Rayna for 5 seasons before her character was killed off in a car accident midway through the fifth season. The show focused on Rayna, an aging country superstar, balancing her career. a failing marriage and raising her two children, all the while dealing with her feelings for the love of her life, Deacon Claybourne. Rayna's appearance came when Deacon, played by Charles Esten, was heading to perform on the Ryman stage. Deacon flashed back to conversation he had with Rayna on their wedding night. "She wanted to do it, and we wanted to do it," showrunner Marshall Herskovitz told Nashville's Tennessean. "And it was great to have her back. I think everybody had a wonderful time those two days, and just having her back brought some closure to the whole experience for everyone who'd been involved. It was very emotional." “Rayna got to do the impossible," Connie said in a statement.
