Trivia:
Raynor is his mother’s child, high spirited and easily the most spunky of any group. He takes delight in fighting and hand to hand combat, but more importantly he likes to win. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen too often for him.
Despite his boundless energy and unbridled joy, he does take time to have an afternoon tea with his father. Ren does his best to instill some of the wisdom he learned in his youth in his son, but the fact of the matter is that he’s just not interested in any of it. He’d rather smash his way to victory than strategize and learn.
He has spent some time with Yang, learning hand to hand combat from her. While he’s no Elio or Esme, Rayn picks up quickly and can defend himself with his fists in a pinch.
Since he was a young boy, he has worked out with his mother in their in-home gym. Rayn was a late bloomer for his semblance, so for a while he depended on being the strongest to defend himself. As a young adult, he is extremely muscular and prefers to keep it that way for the ladies (and his self esteem, which isn’t too high).
As a child, Rayn had a near death experience. Tsubaki and he ran into an Ursa one morning and though she did her best, she could not protect her little brother. He was nearly clawed to death that day and is only around because their Uncle Jaune was visiting and could heal the boy before he lost his life. Today he has a giant scar extending from his right shoulder all the way down to his left hip that always reminds him that life is fragile and can be taken away in the blink of an eye.
Raynor pays homage to his late aunt pyrrha by wearing red on the inside of his shirt. He is a firm believer that Pyrrha had a hand in saving him when he was little, saying he saw her when he “died”.
Like his mother Nora, Rayn also says “boop” if he really loves a girl. He’s only done it once (to Esmeray) as a little kid and now holds that sort of gesture in for someone truly special.
His heterochromia has made him embarrassed about his appearance, and so he tries to hide it with some of his hair.
Raynor can’t stand gloomy, emo-chef Jet due to the contrast in personalities. Not only that, but his childhood crush is now involved with him sexually, which irks him to no end. He does, however, eat the man’s food whenever he gets the chance. The guy can’t smile worth shit, but damn can he make a great pot roast!
Ever since his near death, Rayn has suffered from bouts of depression and panic attacks. He has taken up drinking since he turned 16 and uses that drown out his awful feelings or, in his words, “numb myself”. Nora and Ren have started a campaign for mental health facilities in every kingdom for students and huntsmen alike to get therapy and treatment (something they could have used when they were their sons age as well).
Because his bouts are “temporary”, Rayn doesn’t go to therapy and refuses help. He locks himself away for a bit to be a depressive mess, oblivious to the hell he puts his family and friends through when he does it.
Tsubaki and Rayn are very close siblings, her being a role model for him. He describes her as being “a sweet, humble sister who has helped me out of jams and trouble more than i’d like”. When she goes off to school, Rayn’s depression gets worse as he becomes truly lonely without her to go on adventures with and talk to.
Rayn and Xing are close friends and spent a lot of time together as children. She was his go-to sparring buddy and they often ended up exploring the areas around their houses. He doesn’t approve of Asher spending time with her now, but so long as Xing has a smile on her face, he decides to be silent on the matter.
Raynor has little to no confidence in himself, despite his outwardly happy and confident appearance. All of his parent’s kids are extraordinarily gifted fighters. He feels he can’t compete with them in or out of the ring. These feelings have led him to having an existential crisis about where his life is going and what he wants to do. He had the idea in his head that hunting was the only thing for him. Now he isn’t so sure. If not a huntsmen, what was he supposed to do?
A comfort he has is his parents and sister, who are always there for him if he needs it. Rayn doesn’t exactly like showing his deeper feelings so he doesn’t use that luxury hardly at all, but it’s a sweet, soothing comfort to know that they are always there.
At 6", Raynor is his father’s size
@theswaff699 asked: Ray, can we see your scar?
