Two demons in blue.
Lethargy was the word best to describe bow Vindi felt, and yet it was so much more than that. Weightlessness, yet there was a feeling of every muscle being attached to a boulder. Asphyxiation, though if she took a deep enough breath she could keep her lungs from collapsing, though not without a burning sensation. Her mind struggled to catch up with her surroundings but every time her eyes opened there was a green haze, pupils refusing to focus as if she were sleep deprived, energy starved, but all she felt she COULD do was sleep.
She vaguely recalled voices, muffled and calm but they brought her no comfort. At a point she thought she felt a dampness upon her curls as they stuck to her forehead and water drip down her arms. Vindi's lips barely parted to speak a name but it simply came out a groan followed by someone shooshing her and a sharp pain pressed to the flesh of her wrist. Her world plunged back into that suffocating slumber once more and all she could do was float between utter darkness and flickering dreams. The warm touch of her mate's hand cradling her cheek, his words indistinguishable in her ear, but she knew that voice. It caressed her mind with pleasant memories and caused her heart to flutter. Upon opening her eyes she was met with icy blue, that hand upon her cheek pale and white locks filled the corners of her vision. The hand upon her cheek fell to her throat and tighten, claws biting into flesh and a dark chuckle echoing her mind. The rough words spoken were not a language she knew and yet still she understood them; a promise of violence and pain, of anguish so heavy that her heart would sooner stop from the emotional ache than from the wounds she would bleed from. At first she felt fear but it was soon replaced with rage. She dared not utter the name of her ex-husband but his was the only description she knew of that matched the blurred menace that was attempting to choke the life from her. Her body pulsed with magic and her hand gripped a dagger she hadn't known she was holding. Without a second more of hesitation she plunged the blade into his throat. Over and over she stabbed until his blood spattered her face and his words gurgled. Wiping the gore from her eyes she blinked only to let out a scream of horror. No. No. No. No. That terrible man was not the only person she knew who fit such a description.. Raphael looked upon her, his hand slipping from her neck with a confused gaze, the sadness in them so deeply seeded she thought her heart may have truly stopped as promised. Vindi's trembling hands sought to catch him, to apply pressure to the wound but they were slapped away by another. Seiun draped herself protectively over the body of the dying man, pink gaze glaring up at the Keeper woman while spouting slurs and profanities. She took a step back only to bump into a body; she didn't have to turn to know who it was.. Keloch. Pain filled her wrist for a second time and when she looked to the limb it was Hal's nails she saw digging into her flesh. Vindi tried to yank away but her body didnt respond, that boulder-like weight kept her still, suddenly too tired to do anything more than beg her friends to understand. Even that was too difficult, lungs filling with fire preventing her from making any sound short of a mangled cry. BANG! Indigo eyes opened wide with fear, her mind ripped from the nightmare she had been trapped in. Slowly they began to close again only for another loud bang to startle her. She tried her best to focus, to keep her heavy lids open long enough to see the presence on the other side of her cage? No- tank? She was in a tank. Someone was there.. a hand pressed to the glass.. her own digits twitched, trying her best to lift her limb enough to meet that touch but her attempts were fruitless. It was what she needed though.. That simple symbol of hope. She knew what it meant. She had to endure what was to come. She had to hang on a little while longer.
