Not exactly multi-talented - Johnny's pretty average at most things, including the things he'd really like to be good at: namely, singing and acting. He's passable among friends and family, but really not good enough for a professional career.
Hobbies wise, it's always been cars. For all Johnny likes to joke about how it suits him to get hands on, down and dirty, it's true. He was never good with school or the more intellectual side of learning, but cars always made sense. As a teenager, before the Fantastic Four, he started hanging around at Swenson's Garage in Glenville - the outlet of a kid who didn't have a lot of friends, or much luck in making them, he always got on better with the guys at the garage. He picked up more and more, and by the time Reed Richards was in his life, knew enough that for them to build the Fantasticar together. Johnny still likes modifying engines and also, yes, painting flames on the outside, because that makes them go faster Reed I'm telling you it does please get out of my face with your logic.
He is, also, in fact, a pretty good cook and enjoys it. It's a skill he perfected in his teens, since Sue had to work a lot and he kind of had to fend for himself. These days, the rest of the FF much prefer for Johnny to cook than anyone else, he's just better at it. Turns out it helps to have an instinctive understanding of fire.
