Joel Alme - 'The Way We Used To Beg' (2010)
So I watched 'Happy Christmas' by Joe Swanberg a couple months ago. It was a great movie, it comes highly recommended. Although,I can't remember a single characters name, but I finished the movie knowing this guy.
A lot of Joel's music was featured in the film, and I instantly was in love. The Swedish singer incorporates Dylan-esqe songwriting and delivery with the most beautiful 60s chamber pop elements. The Swedish Government commissioned the album (socialism!) and Joel had the full Gothenburg orchestra at his disposal. Needless to say: THE STRINGS ARE AMAZING.
This cut is my favorite from his 2010 album 'Waiting for the Bells'. He croons 'darling do you remember the way we used to beg' but I like to imagine he says 'bag'. THAT would be my favorite lyric of all time.
