no. 12: Have A Nice Life - Deathconsciousness (2008/2019)
3 gatefolds in a row.. it's a thick part of the shelf.

I got to this party 12 years late and honestly I don't have much to add to the conversation. There's been a lot said about Deathconsciousness and the lore surrounding it (I still haven't read the booklet... #fake), and I can hear its influence (or, at least, draw comparisons) on albums to this day. I appreciate Dan and Tim's minimal and diy approach to making this album, which, again, is hard to describe as anything but huge. This one really got me into the percussion that makes me feel like I'm going to be swallowed up by the Earth vibe.
Deathconsciousness gets re-pressed all the damn time so there are so many colourways I have a desire for like these olive green variants, but I covet this half-and-half splatter the most!! I love the visuals of duality on a 2LP like this. And it just looks sick as hell.
I think lyrically and thematically Deathconsciousness is rich, but when it comes to my emotional response to it I'm more fascinated by the cacophony and the experiment of it all- just how it feels to physically experience this album. The first time I heard the transition between the first two tracks I was captivated. I love the sonic journey it takes me on every time.
And I love it for giving me this image.
