maliq had a meeting this morning --the morning after a drunken night with his girlfriend. a drunken night that revealed a lot of her feelings; all the dark things she kept bottled up inside. if maliq knew alcohol would make open up to him he would have brought it a long time ago, but in the several years they’ve been friends, he’s never seen her this vulnerable. it was refreshing. and scary.
being the resolver (dad) that maliq was, he decided they’d discuss the event over the birthday brunch he planned for just them. he asked her to meet him there, and he was already seated when she approached. rising from his seat, maliq started singing her stevie wonder’s version of the birthday song until he was close enough to wrap his arms around her. “how’s your head?” he asks after pressing a kiss into her cheek.
