anyway i signed up for the marvel comics big bang and im pretty sure im gonna write a fic where ricstar adopt a cat and a dog, and the cat is kind of julio-ish (hisses whenever An Outsider shows up in The Safety Of The Home, but very lovey when it's just the family, loves to knock shit off of shelves, star saw it around and started feeding it and it slowly warmed up to him but took a while longer to accept julio, purrs of intense strength) and the dog is reminiscent of star (very quiet, needs a lot of exercise (they like to walk it together in the late afternoon), loves tug of war, protective of their little family, star is picky about its diet but julio spoils it, not actually very good at emoting like dogs are supposed to due to Sad Doggy Backstory :( Oh No)

and i think i’d like to characterize the cat & dog as more similar to ric & star’s teenage selves, in order to be able to sort of... compare and contrast how they’ve matured and grown in the years since xforce. and both of them bonding with each animal in ways that sort of reflect how theyve grown to be comfortable with themselves, but also that demonstrate that yeah, they were well-suited to take care of each other, and still are.

i also wanna throw in some signing since i still consider my little piece about the two of them signing at each other during the mexico years (to be brief: cadre has sign language) as part of my personal canon for these two

also i think it’s very fun that i have now created a home for these two where there are two animals that hate strangers. ah yes... i love this couple that is made up of two people and two pets that are very hard to get along with... i love their little home and their little family...

i initially envisioned this as taking place in nyc but now im tossing around the idea of it taking place in krakoa... my initial concept for this was “rictor gets an emotional support animal” and it still kind of is that but now im like “oh hm this takes place post-star getting rescued from mojoworld and post-rictor getting AWAY from apocalypse and post-them getting back together” so i think STAR could also use a therapy animal. and i like the idea of them visiting somewhere through a gate and finding a very sad dog that they take back to krakoa. and i ALSO like the idea of krakoa having a stray cat population. so hm. i will continue to turn that over in my little head.

i dont rly read comics bc keeping up with 6 different series for one character is a pain but i love kurt and everytime you tag something logurt it makes me laugh. great content

I went and read one of the ricstar fics you have bookmarked (I am trying to go slowly through them) and it was really great, thank you for the rec! I’m now devastated about Julio and shatter star at 1 am again. Legends both of them

i’m glad you enjoyed it!! and god i know theyre sooooo much to deal with like... the magnitude of their relationship is bonkers. like you already have best friends and in love since they were teenagers, and then you add in the “shatterstar has literally had no gentle human relationships and is having to learn emotions”, and then you add in the “julio is deeply closeted and star is the first person he feels comfortable being out with”, and then you add in the “star literally depends on julio as an emotional anchor and there is nobody else he can be comfortable with”, and then you add in the “shatterstar returning is what gave julio the strength to come out as & fully accept that he’s gay”, and then you add in the “shatterstar literally learned spanish for julio and julio literally learned cadre for star so they can have private conversations”, and then you add in the “they both have powers that rely on vibrations and their connection is so strong and they are so interlinked with the very fabric of each others beings that julio can reach through realities to bring star HOME”, and THEN you add in the “shatterstar’s very existence hinges on a timeloop that depends on him falling in love with julio so he can teleport/time travel his baby self to the appropriate time/place” AND IT’S TOO MUCH MY SKULL IS TOO SMALL!!!! MY SKULL IS TOOOO SMALLLLL

When you post about Shatterstar, I always think you are talking about warriors for a second before I remember. there was a brief period when I thought you were turning into a warrior cats fan blog. this is a shame that I carry with me

i love him a lot.

my favorite appearance of him was actually where he was a background character with one line of dialogue in the new mutants: dead souls miniseries in 2018. he was just rictor’s himbo boytoy and he had some incredible pec cleavage and “opinions about brunch.” in the 6th issue he made rictor pancakes wearing only an apron. in the last five years marvel has been breaking them up and getting them back together with literally every other series they’re in (for drama/gaymeat to throw at other gay characters) so nm:ds shatterstar was a breath of fresh air. they were just chilling. i miss that

i escaped a warriorcats childhood but this concept still walloped me. i think that shatterstar would love the cat warfare books in all honesty

ricstar and d*stiel are the same (loud brash closeted trying-too-hard-to-be-masc-het dude with an abusive father and background soaked in violence and autistic soldier who has to learn earthly values & emotions and is devoted to the former as his main link to humanity). now if only ricstar (canon, wonderful, far superior) got a fraction of the amount of screentime, spotlight, & development d*stiel (the thing that introduced “qbait” to fandom, shitty, bad) got over the sprawling expanse of that shambling corpse of a tv show, while ricstar got relegated to on-again-off-again relationship depending on the whims of the writer, blatantly biphobic writing, and being largely ignored and underdeveloped. submits this as my thesis *i get violently censored from all academic institutions*
