HOT SHOT REDESIGN + Illustration✨

I’m so goddamn detail-oriented it’s not even funny…

Let me tell you, I was locked 👏 the fuck👏 in 👏

This was legitimately so proud of myself for not making the outline perfect. I mean, don’t get me wrong—I love a good neat lineart layer, but where’s the fun in that?

Also the TF Skybound comic’s artstyle has been scratching my brain in a few good places.

Uhm hi- I was just sort of curious about ur Hotshot design since I really like it but besides that did you have anything that gave you inspiration/ideas for the design? 

Oohhooohoo!! My inspiration/ideas for Hot Shot’s design are all over the place, I can tell you that.

Well, in general, the designs for Cyberverse are what inspired me, shape and color-wise, for all of my designs. What I mean by that is that their characters are heavily saturated, with having a blocky CGI style that I really admire. It helps that a bunch of the Cyberverse designs made it into RBA canonically.

But besides that, in Transformers Animated, there was a Hot Shot design that had these big red streaks going down his face—and I thought that looked cool. There was the infamous headgear that resembled a headband, that wasn’t in RBA, that I wanted to incorporate too.

His chest accessory—where his badge goes—was heavily redesigned because I just wasn’t a big fan of there just being big-flat-piece-of-metal. And I took a tiny bit of the design and detail work from AOE Hot Shot for the chest piece and his water canons.

So onto why she is purple… Probably his most obvious change—is because I am literally obsessed with making Transformers having different colored base protoforms. Thanks to TFA Optimus over here.

And I just thought it’d be funny, to have the guy who had the most biased opinions against Deceptions, be a shade of their most popular hue that they practically trademarked. Then I remembered that purple goes together with red and yellow too.
