Getting the Kids Involved! Part 1
So I’ve been into RC'ing since I was like 8 or 9. My first buggy was a Kyosho nitro that took two bolt boxes to keep running. It was all aluminum and would vibrate even the red Loctite off!
Fast forward to 2016 and we’ve been flying the backyard flyers for a few years, but the kids haven’t really been able to fly due to being 6 and 4. I picked up two 4wd 1/16 scale trucks for a steal early this year at the local hobby store. They were waaaay to fast for the kids and after some broken parts and late nights later they were shelved.
I started talking to some guys at my new job and they were into racing the 1/10th scale trucks after work….. so I started looking at “you tube” to see what they were all about and I was surprised at how tough they were. My thinking smaller was better had been all wrong. A little more research and I found that Traxxas has a “training mode” built into their XL5 receiver.
Again more research and pouring over forum postings I settled on the Slash 2wd. It’s about the most rugged platform, simple to work on, and more aftermarket parts than you could imagine….. and after running them both I couldn’t be more right, but more about that tomorrow night.. along with pictures.
