♛ ⤐ ⳼ Sidon had spent the morning managing the construction efforts to create some more docks for the fishers. It was a lot of work as most of the docks had been swept away, but he enjoyed it nonetheless. It gave him some time to be among the commoners, and socialize with them. It also made him feel like he was doing something for a change, as sitting around the palace managing troops and talking with merchants was a boring way to pass the time.
He decided that this afternoon, even though it was raining, he would go down by the river and enjoy some of the serenity and quietness the river basin offered. He had brought a spear with him, in case he saw something worth catching in the river’s churning water. He had taken a seat on the river’s bank, and had dangled his feet into the fast-moving water, feeling the water rush past his toes. He had a pleasant smile spread across his lips as he reclined against the rock behind him, with the spear lying in the grass next to him.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the clean-smelling air, air that was cleaned by the soft rains. Before, he could barely enjoy the smell of such rain. Van Ruta’s rain didn’t allow for the smells he was currently enjoying. Those rains had left everything smelling damp and musky. He was glad the smell was gone.
He could feel the rain’s gentle pattering on the top of his head, and he was enjoying every moment of it. He opened his eyes and exhaled just in time to see a fish in the river. Instinctively, Sidon quickly stood up and grabbed the spear and took aim. Then, in one fluid motion, he threw the spear, hitting the fish with absolute accuracy. Using the long rope attached to the end of spear, he pulled the spear back to shore to examine his catch.
