Let me tell you all about a legend from hundreds of years ago, a legend involving a vaper from the future who went back in time to the lab of a scholar named Faust, while there the vaper made a deal with the great demon Mephistopheles for an RDA that would be perfect for parallel and large gauge wire coils... and hence the Mephisto was born! Now, if you didn't get that reference then you probably need to read more. So in hopes of encouraging you all to read more I have prepared a little review for you to read, so click on!
Lately Ive been building a lot of dual parallel coils in RDAs for the simple fact that the flavor and vapor production in them is tremendous! However, many of the RDAs I have have trouble fitting anything larger then four 28g wires in the post holes, and as such require modding in order to work with my desired 26g. With the Mephisto however, this is not even remotely a problem, the post holes are more than likely large enough to easily fit 22g parallels with ease. So no more jamming your leads through itty-bitty holes and inadvertently sticking your finger with a piece of wire! Horray! The Mephisto also features post screws that are a bit different then most attys in that it uses flat tip screws. This is a little unfortunate as most attys use a philips so this is usually what you will be carrying around with you in your EDC, but at the same time it is nice because damn do these screws easily tighten down and have little chance of stripping. Another great feature of the Mephisto is the air flow it self. Its clear from the AF and posts that the designers really had sub-ohming / cloud-chasing in mind when building this RDA as the stock air flow is well suited for just about everyone and is easily and smoothly adjusted. No complaints about lack of airflow for this atty!
As with many RDAs today the Mephisto features a removable AFC ring, with three separate rings being included in this pack; one black, one copper, and one gold. Personally I love the black ring as it feels like it just fits with the name so much more then the other two, and throwing this atty on the black Stingray just makes it all that much more perfect. The colored AFC rings provide a very smooth look with most mods, which is then turned into a nice slightly rugged look with the extruded drip tip connection. I did run into some issues with the drip tip piece though namely due to the delrin heat sink at the top. Due to the size of the delrin most drip tips that I had simply wouldn't fit and other tips fit far too tight, luckily this was an easy fix though with a simple dremel. All in all, thumbs up!
