After completely forgetting about these little recommendations I’d been doing I’m back and this week I’m recommending my four favourites @southsidewrites, @worriestothewind, @rivendell101 and @sweetpeasbabydoll for all their hard work in setting up and running the blog @southsidearchive, as well as the corresponding Southside discord server.

Blog type: @southsidearchive is an archive of Southside-centric Riverdale fan fiction, with 800+ fics currently added to their collection and more on the way. With the ability to submit your own fics to the Archive, to simply browse and read your about your favourite character(s) or to participate in upcoming events being hosted by the blog, it is attempting to revitalise and support those writers and creators who have and are continuing to make content for our favourite Southsiders.

Blog tag: Tag ‘southsidearchive’ on your posts in the first five tags of the original post to submit your fics and ensure they are added to the Archive. Please note: The length of the southsidearchive queue is not short, and so you may not see your fic be reblogged straight away, but rest assured it will be reblogged.

Discord type: The Southside Archive Discord Server is a server dedicated to building a tighter-knit community within for Southside lovers and creators and is currently home to over 60 members. With daily and weekly writing challenges as well as writing sprints, a points-based reward system, channels for advice on both fics and graphics, a community of people who are available to beta-read and a growing family of Southside bots ready for you to play with, the discord server truly is a place for community and support within our fandom.

Recommendatory note: The sheer amount of work that these four have put into the @southsidearchive blog and the discord server is truly staggering and completely understated. 

Since setting up the blog and the server, all four of these ladies have been responsible for making it what it is today by reblogging entire masterlists from creators to add to the Archive, trawling through tags to find new fics and new authors, making icons, banners and promotional posts, coding bots and planning fandom-wide events, to name only a few of the things they do on a daily basis. 

Everything they have done, they’ve done out of the goodness of their heart and they’ve dedicated so much of their own time to making both the blog and the discord server the best it can be. I’m so proud of these ladies and everything they have achieved in the short amount of time they’ve been working on this project, and I can’t wait to see how successful they’ll be. It’s a pleasure working on this alongside them, and even more of a pleasure being their friend. 

I truly believe that what they’ve done so far has made a huge difference to the Southside fandom, and they should be so proud of themselves.

Becca, Alisha, Liz and Jes; I hope you know how truly appreciated you all are in this fandom. What you’ve done so far has been absolutely unreal! You are some of the most dedicated and lovely bloggers on here, and your hard work in supporting the fandom with your own work, in addition to this new blog, is not given enough praise. I am a firm believer that without the four of you, the Southside fandom wouldn’t be a fraction of what it is right now. You are unsung heroes, and I love and appreciate each of you so much more than a simple Riverdale recommendation post could ever convey.

Today’s Riverdale Recommendation is going to @theheavycrown!

Recommendatory note: Where do I even start with Sarah? I am a firm believer that this fandom would be nowhere near as inclusive, supportive and friendly as it is, without her. Sarah is one of the most dedicated bloggers I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting on this website, putting in so many hours to ensure that this fandom is a cohesive and an enjoyable experience, and her efforts do not go unnoticed by us.

Sarah’s creations are second to none- her gif sets and icons are some of my favourites, as well as her writing being absolutely beautiful and in my opinion severely underrated. Along with being one of the most giving creators, she also finds time to support Riverdale’s other resident creators. Sarah’s blog is home to creations from across the fandom and whether it be related to the Northside, Southside, Bughead, Choni etc, Sarah will always lend you her support. Her selflessness in supporting other creators is something I admire about her so much and try to emulate on my own blog.

Sarah is also part of the teams that run the aforementioned blogs (above) that act as source and event-based blogs for the fandom, as well as being an admin and moderator on the Bughead Family Discord, the fandom’s biggest discord server. 

Despite all of these roles that Sarah has taken on and how busy she must be, she always has time to chat to blogs of any size via direct message, and often leaves lovely comments on reblogs, in the tags or in reply to posts. Sarah is never ‘too big’ or ‘too busy’ for people, which I find is a rarity in fandom nowadays. I find myself regularly shouting about how great Sarah is to all of my friends, and that is because she is the glue that keeps this fandom together. 

Sarah is an invaluable member of this fandom, an irreplaceable part that keeps it going even in the depths of the hiatus where things start to get slow for us, and without her this fandom would not be a fraction of what it is, so thank you Sarah for all you do for us- you are amazing and I hope you know how much we cherish you.

My first Riverdale Recommendation is going to @lilhemmo‘s fic Forbidden Fruit!

Fic type: Ancient Greek mythology!AU

Pairing: Sweet Pea (Hades) x Lilith (OC)

Summary: “They just don’t understand us,” she whispers, her eyes faltering down to her bloodied hands. “We’re different, that’s all.”

She looks up at the statue of the terrifying figure of Hades, the god of the Underworld. The moonlight glints off of the marble as the cool air sweeps like a balm over her skin, the hair on her body standing on end.

“They say that you’re a monster,” she smiles, her eyes shining under the stars, “but I don’t believe them.”

Recommendatory note: Morgan’s fic has quickly become a Southside favourite among a vast number of blogs, and for good reason. It is beautifully written with some of the most immersive detail I’ve read in a fic and it some absolutely stunning graphics to go with it. 

As a sucker for ancient history and mythology I thought I might enjoy this, but it has surpassed all my expectations and has firmly rooted its place as one of my favourite fics to come out of the Riverdale fandom ever. This is a fic that I can’t get enough of and I look forward to each and every update. 

The Southside fandom absolutely needed something like this to get us excited again during the hiatus, but I firmly believe that even those from outside the Southside faction of the fandom would enjoy this just as much as we all do.

If you’re looking for a new fic to read, definitely choose this one- you will not be disappointed.

My second Riverdale Recommendation is going to @fredsythe‘s Parentdale moodboard collection!

Content type: Ongoing moodboard collection.

Current number of moodboards: 9.

Characters included: FP Jones, Fred Andrews, Gladys Jones, Hermione Lodge, Mary Andrews, Penelope Blossom, Sierra McCoy, Alice Cooper, Fredsythe (Fred Andrews x FP Jones).

Recommendatory note: Briana’s moodboards are some of the most gorgeous moodboards I’ve seen made for the Riverdale fandom. Each moodboard has its own colour palette which reflects the character in question and the photos used are all high quality, fit the aesthetic of the character and all work perfectly to create an absolutely beautiful representation of the character.

Briana clearly has an amazing understanding of the Parentdale characters because each moodboard of hers that I have had the pleasure of seeing is, in my book, the most accurate moodboard that I’ve seen for each chosen Riverdale parent. She reminds us that these are not simply old, boring parents and pawns for the show, but that they are complex characters who have long and interesting backstories of their own which intertwine with each other. She has expertly taken all the breadcrumbs that the writer’s room has given the Parentdale fandom, and has turned those characters into something so much more cohesive and amazing.

I can’t pick a favourite moodboard because every single one them is exceptional, but I am super excited to see Tom Keller, Hal Cooper and Hiram Lodge if Briana chooses to make them, along with any more moodboards she comes out with.

Briana is so very talented, and is an absolute asset to this fandom- she deserves more credit for all the work she puts in.
