If I ever have kids, I'm going to encourage them to re-gift things. Like If I get them something they seriously don't like or will never use, by all means give it to someone who will. I'd rather the gift be used and loved instead of getting thrown in a closet to never been used again. I know it sucks when you put a lot of time and effort and money into getting something for someone and they just give it away, but I don't see why someone would prefer they just keep it and never use it.

During the holiday season we're all bound to get a handful of gifts we don't necessarily need or (GULP!) like. Most of us feel obliged to keep these items, whether we reluctantly display them or hide them away in drawers. Whether you tend toward the former or the latter, let's face it, the items don't make you happy... so why be forced to keep them?
Brain Picking's movement suggests letting loved ones know you support them giving your gift to someone else if you feel they're more suited to it.
