Which of mary's dresses would you see Isabelle and Josephine in?

Oh, that's a fun question!

Isabella:

Bella doesn't shy away from bold colours, so I'd love to see her in the Carolina Herrera gown that got so much ridiculous slack but that I unironically think is one of my very favourite of Mary's gowns. And unfortunately, since Mary and Jesper Høvring committed the indefensible crime of destroying this spectacular version of the golden gown, she won't be able to wear it, but I think it would've looked stunning on Bella as well.

Josephine:

This beautiful Moss & Spy dress that Mary's somehow only worn once. And, in a couple of years because it might be a bit too matronly for her now, one of my favourites on Mary: the beige Beulah London dress. Everyone would look to die for in this Lasse Spangenberg gown but I think light blue suits Josephine particularly well, so obviously this would be a shoo-in. And going off of that, might I just put this blast from the past of an Ole Yde gown out there.

Do you think Christian will end up with Emma, Whats with the thing of danish monarchs not being allowed to marry danish people? Do you think he will follow his father footsteps 😂

That is actually just misinformation perpetuated by fanpages. There's nothing preventing a future Danish monarch from marrying another Dane.

When dynastic marriages were still the norm, obviously royals had to look abroad for spouses if they wanted to avoid too much inbreeding but it wasn't a rule. Frederik VI's daughters come to mind in terms of Danish royals having married other Danes: Caroline married her father's cousin, Ferdinand (not just a Danish prince in his own right but son of the hereditary prince), and Vilhelmine obviously married her second cousin (and Ferdinand's nephew), Frederik, (also a Danish prince from birth who would go on to become Frederik VII).

I think the misinterpretation stems from a number of things:

I believe both Frederik IX and QMII famously implored their children to find foreign spouses – and obviously you need the monarch's consent for marriage, so I guess you could say an heir could be disallowed to marry another Dane in the sense that the monarch would have to deny them permission to marry this person. But that's a pretty big swing and if the heir is really passionate about marrying this person, they could just wait until they themselves ascends the throne and grant themselves the permission.

M&F's former private secretary, Per Thornit, has also gone on record saying that an heir "can't" marry a Dane as Denmark is a small country and it would overfamiliarise the DRF – some rather uncouth drivel about how you can't have the Crown Princess's uncle sit and tell drunken stories about her. But again, that "can't" is a matter of opinion and nothing legal or ethical prevents Christian from marrying another Dane. Even Frederik once went on record saying as much about his own situation. And the BRF is proof that nationality doesn't dictate whether or not you have open-mouthed relatives (Kate and Meghan both did).

But obviously there are benefits to choosing a foreign spouse. Everyone in Denmark knows who Christian is and I totally see how that begs the question: Does this person like me for being me or do they like ✨ The Crown Prince ✨?

I always think of what Stevie Nicks said about what makes her and Lindsey Buckingham's relationship so special: "I loved him for all the right reasons". Everyone else sees him through the lens of being Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac but Stevie chose him before all the fame, all the money, all the hits. She was trying to find ways to make hamburger helper different after he put her electric skillet on the gas stove and embroidered flowers on his jeans while he was practising his guitar. And similarly, when Frederik met Mary, she had no idea who he was. She chose him for who he is as a person and not a public perception of who he is or as the future monarch of Denmark. It's hard for royals to find that within their own countries.

Do I think he will end up with his current girlfriend? I doubt it. But not for reasons pertaining to her nationality.

I didn't know this about the Danish, are they all counts and countesses of monpezat?

Indeed! QMII created the title, which is hereditary, in April 2008.

Fun fact: Despite the motion to introduce absolute primogeniture already being in the works in 2008 (changes to the Danish constitution must be passed twice by two separate parliaments and subsequently submitted to a public referendum – in 2008, it had been passed once in parliament), the title can still only be passed in the male-line. Meaning that as things are right now, Nikolai (6th in line of succession to the throne), Felix (7th) and Henrik's (8th) spouses and children will be titled, but Isabella (2nd) and Josephine's (4th) spouses and children will not be 🙃 As a matter of fact, all three girls will lose the title when they marry (as they were made komtesse and not grevinde and a komtesse refers to a count's unmarried daughter).

Funnily enough, Henrik (senior), Joachim and Marie – all seemingly very invested in certain aspects of equality – never seemed to take issue with that 🤔

I don't think it's fair to say Joachim and Marie don't care about Athena loosing her title when Jaochim and Marie obviously never liked the counts of Monpezat title. Fredrik has two daughters and can at anytime change the rules for isabella and Josephine while joachim and Marie can't. So i lay the blame for that female titles thing solely on the feet of Margrethe and Fredrik but you seem allergic to not blaming Joachim and Marie for decisions made by the upper ranked members of the family. I understand Margrethe and Fred and innocent to you and Joachim and Marie are the ones responsible for the counts of monpezat title not being passed by females.

If you read my post and genuinely think that's me accusing Joachim and Marie of making the Monpezat title pass in the male-line only, you're simply not intellectually mature enough to roam the internet unsupervised. The fact that you subsequently go on to assign blame to Frederik for an action he hasn't yet failed to take just confirms that.

That QMII is responsible for explicitly making a title of her own creation agnatic goes without saying. However, QMII has also, believe it or not, never moaned publicly about a lack of equality. Henrik, Joachim and Marie all have.

Henrik wanted to be king because female consorts allowed to be queens (disregarding the historical connotations of queens being inferior to kings) and J&M believe it's an injustice that their children are not equal to F&M's children (disregarding the fact that should any of F&M's younger children be stripped of their titles, so should Joachim – as dynastically, Isabella, Vincent and Josephine are his equals).

And in that context, it's striking how neither has ever bothered to then also tackle the flagrantly obvious inequality of the Monpezat primogeniture. If J&M truly cared about anything other than their kids very specifically losing their princely titles, it would've been cut out for them to bring up the Monpezat titles as it is Athena who will bear the brunt of its agnatic primogeniture. And whether you like it or not, them choosing not to is cherry-picking the parts of equality that matters to them. And that does make them hypocrites.

What do you think about the whole debate around the (ridiculous imo) price of Christian’s (ugly) shirt at his graduation? On one side I despise with my whole chest whenever rich people try to sell the narrative that they’re just like the rest of us and use the same things, even clothes, that we do. Because of course they don’t. On the other hand the ceremony took place at a public school, where at least in theory there should be students from all social statuses and it was unnecessary. What I think is that privileged people just don’t realise how these things come across but especially the next generations of royals, like Christian here, should be more careful about this sort of things. It’s just a thought, I’m not trying to attack anyone

I think it's difficult because yes, OG is a public school but it's also located in one of the most affluent areas of Denmark and is attended by a lot of rich kids who like to flaunt mommy and daddy's wealth.

In that sense, he didn't stand out among his classmates 🙃 but I do agree with you. If I had been their adviser (I mean... can we all agree I would do a better job than the knobs currently in office), I'd definitely implore them to be mindful of how wearing a 11.700 DKK shirt and 84.700 DKK Rolex at 18 looks to people outside the Hellerup-Gentofte area. But as I think I've mentioned before, it's also difficult when M&F (and J&M for that matter) have allowed their children to be raised so "sheltered" among people for whom this is perfectly normal attire 🤷‍♀️ And that is dangerous in the long run because, as you say, it is a bit tasteless to us normal folks. I'll retain that M&F did their kids a huge disservice by not sending them to UWC and away from the very homogenic group of peers they currently keep.

do you think other teen royals will be at christians birthday? and who?

It's really difficult to say because the DRF can be really weird about things like that. Like with QMII only inviting the other Nordic countries to her jubilees and stuff.

I'd say there's a chance? But I'll almost guarantee you we won't see Estelle and Oscar (or petit Charles 🥰) at Christian's gala like we did at Ingrid's 😅 The DRF is way too boring for that and I think QMII feels very strongly that kids don't belong at galas – which is why I also don't think we'll see Bella and the twins at the gala dinner either. I do so badly want it to be a teen royal get-together though 😂

If the DRF extends invitations to young royals, I'd say these are most likely to attend:

Ingrid Alexandra (barring like... illness, I think she's the only one who'd be 100% given – AND it would be the first time we'd see her wearing a foreign order! 🎉)

Maria-Olympia, Constantine-Alexios & possibly also Achileas and Odysseas (would this family ever pass up an opportunity? 🙄)

Maria Carolina and Maria Chiara (same as above 🤡)

Élisabeth & Catharina-Amalia (if they're invited, I think they'd go – probably with one or both of their parents)

Also a possibility:

Alexia (barring the Scandi royals and the Bourbons, I think Alexia is the only other young royal we know for a fact Christian is friends with so I don't think it's totally impossible we'll see her there!)

I wish:

Richard & Ingrid (placing them here because even though Richard had turned 18 by Frederik's 50th, he wasn't at the gala dinner)

Arrietta, Anna-Maria & Carlos Morales (I just feel like it would be nice for all the cousins to be gathered 🥲)

Gabriel and Emmanuel (to even out some of all the gals!)

Leonor (let me preface by saying I don't think she'd go even if she had turned 18 and the fact that she doesn't turn 18 till like a week later solidifies it, methinks, but I think it would've been so neat given that her and Christian are so close in age)

Frederik and Mary took more and more tasks and events over the last years - at least that was my impression. Do you think that they will do more and be more busy as King and Queen? What will they (have to) Tobias additionally that they haven't already done?

State visits come to mind. In the past 6 years, QMII has only been able to do one state visit (either incoming or outgoing) each year but back back in the day, she'd do at least one incoming and one outgoing every year – often 3 in total – and when she was younger, she did even more. I think she did 5 in 1992? 🥵😅

Since his accession, I've also noticed Frederik has emphasised his intention to be a uniting factor between the countries in the realm a lot. That makes me think we might be in for more frequent visits to and work with Greenland and the Faroe Islands during his reign. Which IMO is a really good idea, they're their king and queen as well.

There's also going to be some type of change in appointments and patronages. In terms of patronages, I reckon it'll mainly concern QMII handing over some patronages to M&F. A patronage like Det Kgl. Vajsenhus and Det Classenske Fideicommis will almost certainly transfer to Frederik just because he's the sitting monarch. Kræftens Bekæmpelse and Foreningen Grønlandske Børn seems right up Mary's alley.

Personally, I'm very excited to see what will happen to the DRF's affiliation with the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment. Is Charles going to retire a more than 100 year old tradition?
