Another good hockey game late Wednesday night.
I played well personally and kept us in the game to start when it was pretty lopsided for the other team at the beginning. We came on later in the first period but still were largely outplayed even though it was scoreless after one.
In the second we got two goals early on consecutive shots. The first was what my wife calls a reach-around (wrap-around to everyone else in hockey). I was playing well and later in the period we got a third before a really sloppy play right in front of our net somehow ended with the puck in the goal. I think maybe off the defender but I had lost the puck by that point so I'm not sure. Overall it was a stronger period for the team than the first, even without considering the score.
In the third period they seemed to be trying pretty hard but our team was doing a good job getting the puck clear of our end quickly when we got it which made it easier for me to make saves without getting super tired. As we got closer to the end I blocked a pass from the corner but it went up high in the air and I was off balance to do anything but try to get my stick on it again and I missed and it came down just into the goal. That was unfortunate but luckily we scored a fourth off a breakaway and quick shot very shortly after.
They pulled their goalie to try to come back at the end but I made some good saves and they ran out of time with it seeming more likely we would actually get it on target to the empty net before they scored.
I felt it was a good, solid win for the team even though aside from the goaltending I think we were outplayed by a bit.
And after the game I got some homemade pie, made with home grown peaches.
