you’re so captivated by the way audrey hepburn strums the guitar that you fail to notice how long he’s been staring at you. there’s a crinkle in your eye and a soft smile on your face as your lips synchronize to the lyrics of moon river even though no sound comes out of your mouth. you  s i g h softly when the song comes to an end and your posture slackens as your body starts to lean back into him again.

that’s when you hear it.

suddenly, your breath feels like it’s caught in your lungs. the words come out of nowhere and it’s so unexpected that for a split of a second, you’re convinced you must’ve ( imagined ) it. but you turn your head to face him and he’s looking at you the way paul was looking at holly just now – like you’re something to be CHERISHED and you can’t help but be  s t u n n e d beyond belief because your heart has been ( used and betrayed ) so many times before that you’d forgotten it’s possible for everything to be this EASY.

you don’t stop to think about how happy you’ve been since he entered your world and turned it upside down in the most exhilarating way possible, or the way he still makes your stomach  f l u t t e r with just a single smile. you don’t think about how he constantly makes you feel STRONG and EXTRAORDINARY that you can’t help but believe you are everything beautiful that he sees in you, and you don’t think about all those nights you spent wrapped in his arms thinking about how you’ve never felt so  v u l n e r a b l e  yet so ( SAFE ) at the same time. you don’t stop to think about anything else, because you don’t have to think of all the reasons why you should be unafraid. you’ve never been more SURE about anything or anyone in your entire life.

your fingertips are light and gentle on his cheek and despite the wide grin that you’re wearing, the gravity of his words are not lost on you. you reach for his hand and hold him tightly, as if you’re making him a promise you have every intention of keeping and you look at him like you’re the luckiest girl in the world, like he is  e v e r y t h i n g  because you are, and he is.

             He’s sat across from Steve,   drinking a coffee and flicking through news              reports on a tablet.    If he notices Steve staring, he doesn’t say anything.              His stubble is thick,  blending into his usual facial hair and darkening his              jaw. He’ll groom it later, when they’re both fully awake, but Steve prefers              it this way;            the evidence of a night spent curled around each other              written like a reminder in the softly dishevelled state of him.             Steve              presses his fork into some bacon  and brings it to his mouth and it’s then              that Tony looks over at him.   The blond’s lips stretch into a smile around              his mouthful  and  Tony’s  eyes  sharpen  with something  that  could  be              surprise, before they soften.       He doesn’t smile back, but Steve sees it              there,            in the way his lips purse against his coffee mug as he takes              another slow sip.

              Steve says, breaking the comfortable silence. It has the desired affect of              throwing Tony off.   Again, he doesn’t reply, but Steve hears the ‘me too’              in  the  way  his  legs  stretch out beneath him  and  his  eyes  lose  their              previous focus on his reading.     Steve’s grin widens.    He sort of thinks              they’re both already used to this.

Superheroes really should get paid for their hard work. That was the conclusion Cindy came up with, digging her fist into a Hydra tentacle robot as the final blow (which, by the way, eww). Most of the villains weren't that threatening, let alone smart. It was tedious dealing with them, hearing their bluffs and grand world domination plan. If she wasn't getting paid for taking pictures of herself fighting them, she would've quitted being a superhero long ago.

When she was done gathering the broken pieces of the robot and wrapped it neatly with her web, she saw a red and gold figure flying toward her. It was Iron Man, the famous Tony Stark approaching her. When he got close enough to hear her, she saluted at him.

"Hi, but you got here a little bit too late? The party is over."
