Someone recommended this to me after I mentioned how much I loved The Storied Life Of AJ Fikry but I don’t think they understood what it was about Fikry that I loved. BOOK REVIEW 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Daughters of the Lake - Wendy Webb - I LOVED THIS BOOK!! After I read The End of Temperence Dare I was keen to continue reading Wendy Webb, even if I did think the ending was a bit silly. This one however was flawless. Kate Granger is having strange dreams, seemingly of someone else’s life. A beautiful woman with auburn hair and violet eyes. So imagine Kate’s surprise when that beautiful woman’s body washes up on the shore of a lake, an infant child wrapped in the folds of her dress. I loved the atmospheric style of Webb’s work, her ability to pull a story together in a tender and foreboding way. Even I was surprised by the twists here! BOOK REVIEW 🌟🌟🌟 This was really sad. I don't know what else to say about it. A successful, intellectual woman with three beautiful children is struck down by an early onset disease that has no cure. The book tells of her rapid decline and her families struggle to cope with losing her. My Nanna died of the same disease and my mother likely would have if she had not been involved in an accident that took her life instead. This book didnt make me cry or scream but its left me with a heavy wave of sadness that will likely stay with me. It's well written, not as emotional and prosaic as you might expect and the author has done her research but ...
