I don’t understand what is wrong with Taylor using her platform to encourage young adults to participate in voting. I don’t understand what is so disturbing about Taylor asking her admirers to become well read about the government and politics. She wants every person here in America to some day feel accepted for who they are and for our citizens to never have to pretend to be someone they’re not just to make it by and survive.
Taylor is very well aware of what political views can do to a reputation. She is very well aware of what will be said and the hate she will receive for voicing her opinion in a country that supposedly promotes the freedom to do so. I say supposedly because we are living in a country where people turn on you if you say what you feel. Women can work, but only as long as she doesn’t earn as much as a man. The LGBTQ community can exist, but they can only exist happily in certain states. You can have an opinion, but only if you don’t voice it (especially if millions of people will see it.)
No matter our origin, race, religion, or sexual orientation, we all deserve a fair chance to live a happy life in this country we call home. Taylor believes in that and so do I.
To recap:
Yes, she’s a celebrity, but she’s also a HUMAN. She’s an American citizen. She has rights in this country just like everyone else- but maybe not like everyone else if we don’t make informed decisions about who we let into office.
@taylorswift from a Christian, long time fan- Thank you for promoting love, understanding, and acceptance. Thank you for encouraging a growing knowledge of what’s happening in the world around us ❤️🌈
