One I read? Um... Queen of Winter, "daughter" of Mab of the Unseelie, in the Dresden Files universe.
One I wrote? Cop! Ohhh.... fanfictions are so much fun.
We have some very cool releases to talk about this week! Our reviews include a couple volumes of series we love that haven’t had new releases in about a year (Laid-Back Camp and Secrets of the Silent Witch); the latest in several of our favorite manga (A Condition Called Love, Kaiju No. 8, and Usotoki Rhetoric); an 3-in-1 edition of a classic shoujo (Red River); and the final volume of one of the best spin-off manga available (Kimi ni Todoke: Soulmate). Check out our thoughts on these releases and let us know what you’re reading!
-----
A Condition Called Love (Vol. 10) • Dandadan (Vol. 9) • Kaiju No. 8 (Vol. 11) • Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You: Soulmate (Vol. 3) • Laid-Back Camp (Vol. 15) • Red River (3-in-1 Edition) (Vol. 1) • Secrets of the Silent Witch (Vol. 5) • Usotoki Rhetoric (Vol. 9)
The 13x11 Reader's Corner 10 (November 21, 23)
Because the world will always need 13x11 love… And let’s say it: they’re gorgeous together ;)
Stellar Drift by Flayrie
Summary: Canon divergence. Through Lady Une's machinations, Treize Khushrenada survives the war. Despite saving him, Une appears intent on pushing him away, evading him at every opportunity. Desperate for answers, Treize confronts her, igniting old feelings long buried for the sake of duty. [Illustrated by yawniverse]
Why 13x11 shipper may like it:
For once, he met Une with a compromise rather than a demand. For once, he considered reciprocity.
Why non-13X11 shipper may like it:
A sharp sensation scratches his cheek, borne from the tip of a stray feather poking through the pillowcase. Probably vengeance from one of many waterfowl he once shot for sport.
Bonus: great artwork and soundtrack
Pearl invented knights is not the lore I expected from Steven Uniberse, but it’s the lore I welcome.
I don’t think that’s the case? Almost every time Pearl’s used them, she’s made up the image we see. I guess I thought when she does stuff like Rose’s Scabbard, she’s painting a picture from her memories and so they aren't necessarily an accurate reflection of what happened. Pearl isn't exactly the person who strikes me as having a 100% objective, machine like recall of past events.
I would be a diamond, because I'm an overhyped bitch.
Or why limit ourselves when we could be the next Mahabali. Our brains are now diamonds. Our skin? Yellow sapphire. Acid reflux? No, that's emeralds flowing through my digestive system.
I think I disagree with you on this one, at least at the moment. I can see where you're coming from, but I guess my personal interpretation of Connie is that her interest in fantasy comes with imagining herself as a main character on equal footing with the magic, not inferior to it. She's insecure about being a regular human, but I don't see her being interested in chivalry at all, or framing her desire to help Steven in these terms until Pearl tells her the only way she's getting through the door is by treating Steven as her liege lord. In fact, I would go so far as to say I think when she's not in the midst of an exciting brainwashing montage, Connie would see the whole knight thing as a pretty outdated and foreign way of thinking compared to her interest in female-centric political fantasy.
@ramblinseahorsey WAIT ARE YOU SERIOUS??
HE’S WEARING MISMATCHING SHOES??? Wirt what is happening here??
I think we just have to accept that Wirt is fashion. He’s high end. He’s Carrie Bradshaw for the Victorian Gnome community.
