We're All Americans First, Then Kansans or Missourians
Someone suggested to methat we disregard Joplin - a city of 50,000 that was hit by the deadliest tornado in American history where 130 died, over a thousand injured, a third of the buildings demolished, and many still missing in favor of Reading - a tiny town of 200 that was hit by an EF3 tornado, where only 20 buildings and 1 person was lost just because its in the same state as us? Nothing against Reading and my heart still goes out to them, but the parochial thinking of some people in Ottawa, KS, especially those who claim to be Democrats, never ceases to amaze me. "Take care of our own first?!" I'm sorry but the people of Joplin, MO are just much "our own" as the people of Reading because we're all Americans. To pit the two disasters against each other is despicable.
