💡 Tell me a headcanon (and who you wish would write it)?

Sebastian Vael is actually good at being Prince once he’s forced into it. He hates it, but he’s good at it.

Alistair is less good at being King, because he’s got more of a learning curve, but he hates it less once he finally gets his feet under him.

(Someone write me the long-form epistolary fic of them corresponding over the next twenty years. I don’t even care who.)

re: Shadowhunters, uh. idk. I have a lot of headcanons, I can’t seem to pick one today.

Jace/Maia deserved more screentime, I’m putting them in as a background character in my Clizzy Fic. (Be the change we want to see in the world, I guess?)

😍 What is your favourite fic trope?

Arranged marriage. Where they’re both entirely in on the arranging aspect, like: yes, we are mutually agreeing to this business proposition for the sake of our families or standing or keeping our land or our benefits or whatever. Because I get a little weirded out by the deception inherent in all fake dating concepts, but with an arranged marriage/marriage of convenience your not lying! To anyone!

Except maybe yourself when you first start realizing you actually want a relationship with this person who only agreed to be your business partner.

(So much pining! I like pining, if it’s done right.)

I like the inherent physicality of pining, similar to what you get a good regency or period piece where casual physical contact isn’t a thing, because you’re so so aware of the other person then, of how many steps away they are, of how much air you’re sharing when you’re standing next to them, of how easy it would be for your hand to brush their arm as you walk but you can’t, of how you notice when your finger-tips touch when you’re passing them their drink, or a paper, and you can’t do anything more than that. It’s a lovely sort of agony.

🎵 What do you listen to while you read?

I’ve always been the “ignore the world around me while reading” type, so whatever’s on spotify, or whatever game or TV show someone in my family is playing/watching in the background. (The Metroid Prime games have a really nice wistful sort of sound-track, definitely recommended as background noise.)

What thing that your fandom loves do you just not “get”?

Well

For BioWare it’s adherence to particular decisions in game, or using dialogue in fic, like. IT’S AN RPG THERE ARE MULTIPLE OPTIONS THAT ARE ALL TRUE. Why are you stuck on just one?!? (Why is there so little canon divergence? What if there was a third option there! GO FOR IT.)

For Shadowhunters it’s using anything from the books because I do not get them? (And also CC is the absolute worst ever.) The show is lovely! It’s bad but it’s sincere, let’s just play with the TV show.

(Also immortal!Malec. I like it fine but I’m surprised it’s the juggernaut of fandom decisions, because you can make them both mortal! Or only one and cry about it a lot! For a fandom based on a fantasy melodrama, there isn’t that much interest in crying over weird fantasy conundrums. CRY OVER WEIRD FANTASY CONUNDRUMS WITH ME, PEOPLE.)

Why was Cullen the breakaway star in DAI?

(I HAVE A SHEPARD WHO STOPPED THE GENOPHAGE CURE BECAUSE WREX AND EVE WERE BOTH DEAD/DYING AND SHE COULDN’T GIVE IT TO WREAV. WHY DOES NO ONE TALK ABOUT THIS PLOT ARC. I HAD TO TURN THE TV OFF TO RECOVER.)

Why do I always love the least popular video game characters? (Except in DAO, where at least I loved the least popular origin to make up for it?) WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY TASTE? (Or possibly everyone else’s, not to be too hipstery about everything.) I mean. I like Garrus & Shakarian but it’s not my ME OTP and I like the romance, I do, but why is that one the juggernaut? I don’t expect that many people in my Shoker-canoe, because BW fandom does tend to mostly focus on the canonical LI’s, but still.

(How did I land in Shadowhunters where I do actually like the juggarnaut OTP? That never happens to me.)

Like sure, I have a Reyes romance in MEA, but she wouldn’t let him use her to assassinate someone, so he still went on the run and just sent that good-bye email.

My just for the heck of it secondary romance play-thrus always end in staring sadly at the ceiling eating brownies to recover until I come up with a good polyamory epilogue. That I never write. But it makes me feel better because it’s in my head.

(OH, talking about crack!ship pool noodles, some day I’m gonna find someone else who wants to talk about Blackwall/Loghain or Blackwall/Solas with me.)

there was the time I read a fic that had a major character death that they hadn’t tagged because it wasn’t permanent but EVERYONE IN THE FIC THOUGHT IT WAS AND I WAS SMACKED UPSIDE THE HEAD WITH GRIEVING FOR MY FAVORITE CHARACTER AND I WAS NOT AT ALL PREPARED

or you know what randomly came to mind? @dreadwulf-dragonage‘s Midnight in a Perfect World. Fenris. Isabela’s twisty POV around and after his death. Gah.

(Colonist!Refugee Imani feels? They’re, again, a very satisfying and soothing sort of grief though, things are always getting better in your fic.)

😎 Who is your BroTP?

All of them! I really like found family for all my media, and tend to get just as invested in the platonic/familial relationships in everything even if I mostly write about the romances.

I am especially fond of Magnus & Jace, Clary & Alec in Shadowhunters, just because these are people who probably would not have been friends if left to their own devices, but all their other friends/family overlap so now they’re forced to and they actually balance out so well. I LOVE THEM. (I have, I’m not sure why, written a lot more Magnus & Jace than Alec & Clary, so that’s clearly something I should work on.)

🤢 Who is your NoTP?

I don’t have any real NOTP’s in SH, besides obviously anyone and Valentine or Jonathan (as he is in the show) in anything besides dark!fic because wow, that’s not a good idea.

I don’t particular get a lot of the secondary pairings, (especially Jace with anyone except Maia, just. He’s too much of an ass when he’s deflecting/self-protecting, and everyone else mostly lets him, that’s not a good start for a relationship), but I don’t dislike them, I just don’t get that invested. I’ll read a good story but I’m not going to go seeking them out, iykwim.

(That’s kind of a cop out, I know, I’m sorry.)

What is your dream AU?

Anything properly revolutionary punky (aka class issues & attitude) like a good solid cyberpunk or steampunk.

also I mean I like some dark murderous romance sometimes and it’s hard to find but it’s also hard to describe so I’m not sure how I’m gonna get more of it beyond @alxndrlightwoods armed prophets series; most dark!fic isn’t romantic and most romances aren’t murderous so... you see my problem? Sometimes I get a Mafia AU or something, but those usually take themselves too seriously.
