I went to the museum yesterday and I saw so many amazing books that I would love to have. I resisted the urge to purchase them, partly because they were too heavy for the commute back home. Once the #readingfromhome challenge is done, I intend to reward myself, though!

As many of you already know, @theaspenreader and @schoolenthusiast have created a wonderful reading challenge for 2018 called A Year of #readingfromhome, the objective of which is to read books you already own in order to get your unmanageable physical TBR pile in control and to reduce the amount of money spent on books.

@theaspenreader and @schoolenthusiast have created a wonderful reading challenge for 2018 called A Year of #readingfromhome, the objective of which is to read (and reread) books you already own in order to get your unmanageable physical TBR pile in control and to reduce the amount of money spent on books. I’ve decided to join in on the fun since I own about 50 books I’ve yet to read (or completely finish) and that number is, frankly, horrifying. However, I’m confident I’ll be able to read all of the books during 2018, and I’m also really looking forward to revisiting some of my old friends via rereading😊

I’ve actually read two books since I last posted! I’m on spring break and finally had time to myself to read! I read the Queen’s Lover by Francine du Plessix Gray and then The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones. Queen’s Lover was good as I like historical fiction but there was just TOO much history at times. There were too many names and places and relationships I had to try to keep straight and I don’t LOVE having to think really hard when reading for fun-school yes, recreational no. The Hearts We Sold was a much better read. Some of the shenanigans at the end I didn’t love but it all was wrapped up fairly well so I was happy about that. 

One day I’ll catch up to the most recent Owlcrate book and the ones I get will be the next ones I read-but today is not that day. Nor is it in my near future. I forget how far back I am now...August after I just did some looking. Once I graduate from my grad program in May this TBR list won’t know what hit it!

#ReadingFromHome Update 3 I started reading Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke today, and honestly... I’m just not feeling it. I don’t care about the characters, I don’t sympathies with anyone, I have no concept of a plot and I’m already 40 pages in. It’s just not a book I’ll enjoy so this is headed off to the book drive. NDF this book, which is such a shame, because I thought I’d like it more.

I finally took some time to read this morning. I had not read non fiction in a while and I would like to read more of it over the summer. Tomorrow I have two appointements on campus and then I have to commute back home. I start teaching next week so I have to work on my class outline!
