#happynationalbookloversday! I'd be remiss not to make a major fuss about it so here's my tbr of sorts! A great writer and a lovely friend asked for recommendations (film, poetry, fiction, visual art, essay) for a class she's creating that teaches how to write about illness (mental, physical, visible, and invisible). She sent me the email last night and I got #overzealous and ransacked my shelves and storage hehe. I didn't dig through my bedroom yet and this doesn't even include all the zines I've gathered either! I still haven't replied back lol ugh. Like I'm still amassing some links of stuff I don't have print access to and I wanted to ask about the parameters. I know that she won't be able to use all my suggestions but I wanted to be #thoroughaf and leave no book unflipped through hehe. When it comes to #readingrequests and recommendations I don't fuck around, esp when it comes to friends or fellow writers and I'm so lucky she's both! I also want to make sure she has a wide range to choose from. 😬 If you have any suggestions, esp film wise, that would be great! I have some slam poetry in mind and I'm trying to think of any short films that are about illness. I'm not sure if all of these books contain works on illness, a lot are just collections and anthologies I haven't delve in yet but I figured most of them will and it'll give me an excuse to read them FINALLY! Tho she was put into a strange mental facility and might be misdiagnosed but still it def touches on mental illness and its depiction! And it's so inventive too, hilarious, and heart rending. The prompt the teacher gave to her students was to write about a mystical creature that resolves the greatest sociopolitical problem of our time. The results are so amazing and wideranging and I can damn tell I'm going to LOVE this book! May that hit me with every book here 😅 #books #TBR #📚 #spinesfordays #bookstagram
