Make Going To The Library A Weekly Event
By: Erin Kowalow, Reading Wallet
Make going to the library a weekly family event! Treat it like soccer or baseball practice. Reserve one day of the week to go to the Library as a family. Put it on the calendar and block out the time. Have your child select a book from the Reading Wallet Library that s/he plans to read next and search for that book at the Library. If your child is on a lower level, you may want to select several books as they are typically very short stories. After your Library visit, make it a tradition to go out for ice-cream or go to the park, something that your child, or better yet, the entire family will enjoy.
Using this method will allow your child a vehicle to obtain the books s/he would like to read and continue to earn book bucks. You as a parent will feel confident that your child is selecting the correct books to read, and EVERYONE will look forward to the planned family time each week!
Happy Reading and Redeeming!
