I always dreamed of writing my way out the hood. In grade school a teacher told my parents I had a learning disability and forced me into the "portables" with children who learned at a slower pace than the rest of the class. My parents proceeded to take the lead and had me reading more and studying harder. When grade school was over I tested into the gifted and talented middle school and began learning on a higher level. When I entered high school I immediately took sophomore classes. I went to college on an academic scholarship. My parents instilled a will to succeed in me very young and an ability to never stop working. #knowyourpurpose #readmoore #writing #listen #create #tbt
It seemed only right that I wrote about the first black president of the United States. Living in the inner city I heard all the conversations about how Obama didn't do anything for the hood and I took it upon myself to do the research and find ALL the things he actually did do for the community. I also wanted to show how America's hatred for him led to the next president.
