Usually, the only people who go to the school pool are on the swim team, but on warmer days, more people show up to play in the pool. Chelsea liked to go in and relax and maybe pretend she had sea legs. She’d had a busy exam week, and with the sun beating down outside, she wanted to cool off. Indoors.
It was nice to be there when it was less busy than it was weeks ago for the pool party. She didn’t even want to think about school, for once, just for a little while. She made her way to the poolside, already in her swimsuit and a light cover-up. Chelsea felt great in it, confident even. But caught in her thoughts, she was suddenly knocked into the pool by someone who hadn’t been looking.
“Uwoah!”
Soaked from head to toe, Chelsea suddenly didn’t feel so hot. She didn’t even reach the bottom of the pool when she fell – it was so deep – but her foot scraped across the side. She righted herself and stood, her chin just above water. She brushed her hair away from her face and looked up at the guy who knocked her in.
