I just wanted to learn a little bit of coding to make flash animation easier ... now it's 25 years later, I've worked for a few boutique web dev agencies, Google, American Eagle, and learned over 10 programming languages (and flash doesn't "really" exist anymore without 3rd party projects like Ruffle) ...
and I still get people who sneer at me like I'm "Not A Real Programmer"
fuck'em
...
I've actually worked with American Eagle 3 separate times -- once with ActionScript3 at an agency on the Aerie launch, once on a mobilization layer as a vendor (EmberJS-sorta stuff), and again directly (with Vanilla JS) ... and somehow always getting involved with their Aerie line of womens undergarments? (like, I prototyped and built out their bra size calculator & "email me when this comes in stock" stuff) ... and, well, I don't expect respect from the Preppy Kids - as a lifelong punk/nerd they've always treated me as the enemy - but geeze wouldn't it be nice if at least they recognized my contribution instead of my last "6 month contract to hire" gig with them ending because I "didn't work on any big projects" because the work management assigned to me wasn't "big" or important enough I guess?
"it's only business"
ugh, this universe is so dumb
