I take a lot of these photos of people in silhouette. I don't know why, but I've always thought of them like how architects draw small figures for scale when they design new buildings. I've always called them Shadow People. Tonight I walked home from the 3rd Ward to Walker's Point after a long day at work. It was dark and cold and there weren't many people out. I crossed paths with a homeless man and I was bracing for him to ask me for money. He stopped as I approached and slowly closed his eyes, then deeply exhaled as I passed, saying nothing. It was odd and unnerving, as we were the only ones on the street. I walked a few blocks further towards the fire station and I saw a silhouette of a man near the bus stop on the corner, about a block away. I thought about taking my camera out of my bag. I hesitated and thought about taking yet another shot like this, but I felt kinda weird so I kept walking. The silhouette walked away from the bus stop and toward the wall of the fire station and I lost sight of him. As I arrived at the fire station I noticed a small alcove where I thought he might have hidden and I braced, again, for an encounter with a stranger. I turned to look at the wall to see where the man had gone, but he wasn't there. What I saw was a man walking quickly toward the wall as if there was an opening. But there was no man and no opening. I was only halfway home and had to keep walking. #realghoststories (at Walker's Point, Milwaukee) https://www.instagram.com/kenkofoto/p/BsuL4Rxn4G1/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=39xd8lk3embn
