Marvel films are mostly lighthearted action comedies that happen to have comic book characters in them. They are the epitome of Marvel comic books come to life. DC films are gritty, unapologetic, realistic, and usually darker in tone. Marvel films put “fun” above everything else, while DC puts the real world within the world of its characters. They are two very different approaches with two varying amounts of success.

Marvel v. DC: Dawn of Dumbness

Does anyone else besides me think we're living in Bizarro world? Marvel was always had the more realistic world, that'sn why they all take place in real places. Marvel introduced real issues for their characters like Tony's drinking problem. DC was always more lofty, their characters more like mythic, all but Batman. Now all of DC is like Batman and Marvel has become the lighthearted one? Where am I?
