Something about 17k people singing "I thought I got better, but maybe I didn't" just broke us apart... And his gasp/sob at the end...

Look... We grew up in a church... We are used to worship services....

Describing it to others ... The way we felt at moments that night was like flashbacks to being at the sunrise baptism service on Easter Sundays back when our faith was something that felt mandated. When they would put the open call for anyone to step forward to be cleansed and baptized... Only back then we'd step forward and be crying because we felt shame and broken and hoping that the baptism would... Fix that.

That night we were crying because the music felt personal, as if it could have been inspired in part by our life (in as much as we're sure others also felt) but... We didn't feel broken or shamed. We just felt peaceful.... Like we assume we should have actually felt at those baptisms when we were regularly attending conventional churches.

We rarely ever think of music as just music... We may choose to listen to it passively at times... But all music speaks to us.

The entire Ritual was exactly that. It felt like an almost holy process where we looked inward, having listened to these songs for months, sometimes just as music, and sometimes as soundtracks while we confronted things in our past, trauma and events that we are and have been actively working past. And realized just how far we'd come from way back then. Where we are finding ourselves stitched together in gold, not through some god's absent judgement, but through our own powers.

So yeah... Sorry for this brief jump into hyper music focus... >.>
