Standing across from him, the slayer swallowed as her hands fidgeted with the hem of her shirt. When she decided to relocate, settle down and try for a normal life, she never thought she would meet someone. Sure meeting someone and finding happiness usually fell under the settling down category, but it had never been a priority. And yet Pat had walked into her life or better yet stumbled into it, which there were no complaints about him doing so.
However his admission left her standing there, unsure of what to say or do. For the longest time Faith thought he had found her, that she had been the one who was lost. Mindlessly wandering around trying to find her place in the world, find some meaning to her life (if there even was one), always searching for something. It seemed, however, that she found someone, someone who was just as lost as she was.
Walking over to him, closing the space between them, the slayer moved to stand in front of him. Slowly her hands came up to rest on either side of his face as she looked into his eyes. He looked tired, so very tired, and it pained her to know there wasn’t much she could do to help him. “I will always find you, Pat,” she whispered, thumbs gently stroking his stubbly cheeks, “no matter where you or how far you wander off...I’ll always find you.”
