Good news and i hope I'm not jinxing myself. Have a job interview on Monday. Wish me luck!
i will also be taking mixes from the book (the twinkling light suit) and stanley tucci himself who wanted it to appear like caesar had had multiple plastic surgeries and a noticeable fake tan. he also stated that he played him as "creepy, with the sort of false generosity and duplicity."
this quote has heavily influenced my interpretation of him and the reason he appears creepy and fake is because he is fake and creepy because the capitol is fake and creepy and he is a direct mirror reflection of that system. he was forced into this role by threat of death. caesar had no interest in becoming a weatherman or in meteorology, like his father (grandfather? idk reminder that im not caught up lol) before him, but he did have a charming persona that the capitol wanted.
they seduced him with the promise of fame, fortune, and freedom to live as he wished in the saccharine luxury of the capitol if he would only sign this contract to be their new tv personality---not weather! entertainment!
this sealed the deal for caesar, a lover of all things entertainment and this was honestly a dream come true! however, over time, and games, caesar grew weary of the "always on" personality. he expressed disinterest in hosting the hunger games for a second time.
he was tortured mentally with his long-time lover and high-school sweetheart, frederick, who was brutally executed while caesar hosted the broadcast. he watched it happen on live television.
let this be a warning to those who defy the capitol. snow's voice had said.
from then on, caesar's smile never faded, nor did his tan, his hair, or his suit. always shining. always smiling. always on.
it's exhausting.
he also cannot allow himself to think of the games as anything other than a film or a story. he cannot allow himself to humanize the games and he cannot allow himself to actually CARE about the tributes. he can't.
