I’ve been on my medication for 3 weeks now (1 week of once a day and two weeks of twice a day) and, honestly, I can finally feel a difference. It started with the little things like me laughing more, but the biggest difference is I didn’t have my weekly panic attack yesterday. I have troop meetings on Fridays and they’re usually a big trigger for my panic attacks. Instead, I felt a little anxious, but that was it. No full blown panic attack. That is amazing.

Of course, I am having some struggles with my medication. First it was the sleep disturbance side effects, which means for me that I can sleep when I usually do, but once I’m awake for anything at all, I have to be awake for a few hours before I can go back to sleep. I’m still getting enough sleep regardless, so I’m not complaining too much. I do get dizzy/woozy like an hour or two after I take the medication, but it seems to get better if I take it with food so I’m still trying to figure that out since it seems to be hit or miss at the moment.

And my parents finally know about my diagnosis. I finally told my mom about my struggles with mental health the Sunday after my original appointment. We both sobbed about it and then my parents changed their profile pics to ones with me as signs of support (which made me sob harder). But things seem to be good and they took the news better than I originally anticipated.

So things are really looking up right now. I have a follow up at the beginning of October, but things are really good.
