I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I don’t like Ichihime. I don’t like the implications for Orihime’s character that’s involved in it. Perhaps it’s just Kubo being a guy, though. I can understand that.
But really, even SasuSaku was like... kinda okay? Sakura got over that fangirl thing. The feelings grew into something tangible as she got to know him and understand him better.
But then again, in that vein, I can’t demonize IchiHime because, like Sakura, Orihime also went through a bit of a transformation, though her growth wasn’t as visible because Kubo had too many fucking characters to juggle. Too many antagonists, too many fights.
I think, in the end, Bleach is a Shounen manga. It was written to have flashy fight scenes with lots of hype. Kubo had the plot planned. It got resolved and there were no more flashy fight scenes to draw. A final monologue from the former big bad and badda bing badda boom give the main character a wife and a baby you’re done.
