I love Saturday mornings & this book...☕️📖 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷 /5 Cheers! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ THE GUNNERS by Rebecca Kauffman The Gunners is a story about friendship, family, love, secrets and loss. Mikey, Jimmy, Sam, Alice, Sally, and Lynn are a group of childhood friends who reunite when they are in their 30s after a member of their group commits suicide. The story is set in present day with nuanced moments from the past weaved into the story. I was completely invested in all of the characters throughout their entire journey. I was feeling nostalgic and reminded (like many others have said) of The Big Chill & St. Elmo’s Fire. The final paragraph of the book perfectly summed up this beautiful story & made my eyes sweat ——— “The word love...it was scary and outlandish to him. But what was life if not a long series of scary and outlandish things you did and said and asked if your heart, so you could carry the wild and unreasonable hope that someday someone would hold your face and say, You are perfect. You can rest now. You were always perfect to me. Not because you were even remotely close to perfect, or brave, or strong, or even very good, but because you had been very dear friends for a very long time.”💚 . . . #spinesvines #books #wine #saturdaymorning #bookreview #thegunners #rebeccakauffman #friendship #spring
