#reboot speculation

I don't want a gallavich spinoff right now because I think Cam and Noel are over these roles and because the current writers kinda suck. But given every single show seems to be getting rebooted these days I wouldn't be surprised if they reboot Shameless in some way in 5 or 6 years time. And I'd be interested in what gallavich would be like then, if they'd have a kid etc.

Yeah, break and then a reboot could be good. They would definitely need different writers. And if Cam and Noel could be producers, which some shows do with actors, that would be good too as they really get their characters and it would allow them to have a bit more say.

Ooh yes, they should be producers. They have always known their own characters so well and added so much more depth than what is sometimes in the script.

What kind of storylines do you think would work for a reboot?

Ooh, do y’know, I’m not really sure. The best part of Shameless has always been the family dynamics so I think a reboot would need to be about the next generation of Gallaghers - Liam entering into adulthood, Franny as a tween after having grown up with Debbie, a frankly terrible mother, plus Freddie, and Ian and Mickey’s kid/s. I think there’s potential for IxM to also be foster parents who take on older kids so there’s scope to have different kids come in and out of their lives/the show too.

I think their security business would provide some interesting storylines. They want to stay legit but there’s crime everywhere and people trying to steal from them and cause problems. I can see them fighting to try and keep their business from getting ruined. And maybe they try to protect other legit businesses that they work with from the crime?

I would love for Mickey to continue running their security business. I think it’s the perfect job for him and something he seems to genuinely enjoy. And there’s great fodder for potential storylines! But I’d love to see Ian get to be an EMT again, or do something he personally feels is more rewarding. I think he was happiest when his job was helping people.
