After over a year of being officially homeless, my mum has finally been given a flat by the council for her and my disabled sister! Things are finally moving forward and I feel unbelievably relieved that they'll finally have a permanent home that my dad doesn't know about.
If you know anything about UK council homes though you'll know that they take everything out between tenants, including ripping up the flooring in some ridiculous wasteful system that makes no sense and instead of meaning she just needs to give the place a lick of paint, means she's starting from a blank and dusty box with no floors, never mind furnishings given you don't tend to have those when you're homeless.
Me and my sisters are pitching in as much as we can, and we're waiting on the list for some charities who may be able to help, but the whole system is stretched to the limit and just having a place puts her in a better position than most. The main thing we want to do right now is get her some flooring in so she can move in, which is also the most expensive part to handle.
If you'd like to help out then my PayPal is here and my ko-fi is here. I'm more than willing to answer questions and talk over stuff with people, and I appreciate anyone sharing as that's a massive help too. I really feel like once she's sorted with this and settled in everything will be so much better for her and she'll be able to finally make a new start away from my abusive dad and start rediscovering herself and what she wants again.
