What the hell with the long-ass days?
So I always was uber concerned about students who had long school days. Does this mean they are learning more than other students? Not necessarily. Based on what I have experienced a lot of it is a babysitting service for students. Parents who cannot afford childcare or do not have adequate support from families appreciate the school community provided not only longer days but aftercare. While I am all for supporting families if you are going to have longer days for students be sure to add some sort of playtime outside of lunchtime for them. Why are they being treated like they are adults who can hold their attention for long periods of time? It is scary how far public education has fallen. I hope things come together soon for the sake of our country.
