Defy Ventures: A Solution for Recidivism
As the War on Drugs continues to drain our society and our economy, an organization called Defy Ventures has decided to do something about it.
Defy Ventures is a nonprofit run by a group of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. True to its definition - Defy is challenging a group of men to do the impossible: make a better life after prison (rather than a return visit).
Defy believes drug dealers and gang leaders tend to share the same talents and qualities as top business leaders. Through an MBA-like training program, Defy offers ex-cons a chance to succeed. In addition to mentoring, development and career placement - Defy holds a series of business plan competitions that award up to $150K in seed capital to winning ventures.
