Recipe 11 | Bourbon Apple Tart | Thanksgiving Day 2015 Recipe to come! Was absolutely delicious.
Recipe #11 - Bangers and Mash
Review: Yum! This was excellent. Not only was it my first time making bangers and mash but it was also my first time trying it. Normally I just eat sausage with ketchup, I don't think I've ever had it with gravy and mashed potatoes before. And it was great!
I especially enjoyed the gravy, which was another new experience for me. I used a recipe that uses chicken stock instead of turkey fat and it tasted fancier than the gravy I'm used to eating around Thanksgiving.
Bangers and Mash reminded me a lot of my clam chowder recipe experience; just a lot of good flavors working together to make something delicious. Even the simple rolls were super tasty.
The only issue I had was that I served myself too much of it! What can I say? My eyes are bigger than my stomach.
Recipe for the Rolls:
Here's my Source
2 1/2 flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp salt
1 package yeast
1/2 cup very warm water
1/2 cup very warm milk
1 egg
2 tbsp butter
Recipe for the Gravy:
Here's my Source
2 tbsp butter
3 medium shallots
salt
pepper
2 tbsp flour
1/2 cup dry Marsala wine
2 cups chicken stock
1/4 cups heavy cream
As for the sausage, mashed potatoes and the peas, I didn't really need a recipe! The sausage I simply cooked up in a skillet with some olive oil, the mashed potatoes I boiled and then mashed with milk and butter, and the peas I just followed the instructions on the bag. I looked up if there was some sort of special way to make bangers and mash but everything seemed straightforward so I went with a normal preparation.
Anyway, if you guys would like to try this meal I'd recommend you make it for your family or the guests of a party. It's really a meal meant to serve many. Also, if you need any extra prep information, check out the source pages.
Recipe Number 11 - Bangers and Mash
Bangers and Mash is a recipe based on a room service meal you can order in Curse of Blackmoor Manor. I decided to make this particular recipe because it is so quintessentially British.
I couldn’t exactly make my own sausage (because I don’t have a meat grinder) but I did make the gravy, mashed potatoes, and rolls from scratch. It was a long process but well worth it in the end.
Side note: I used Boar’s Head meat which I thought was fitting since the restaurant in the game is called the Boar’s Head Pub.
